Indigestion and Constipation


Here are some home and natural remedies for indigestion and constipation.
  1. For indigestion: Make a drink of a spoonful of ginger juice, a teaspoon of lemon juice mixed with a bottle of soda. Salt or sugar can also be added. 
  2. Put 2 or 3 tender leaves of tulasi plant (also known as holy basil) in a glass of water overnight and drink this water early in the morning. This will clean your bowels and purify the blood. 
  3. Chew a teaspoonful of ajwain (caraway seeds) or heat a glass of buttermilk and water with a little jeera (cumin seeds), curry leaf and bruised dry or fresh ginger. This will make a refreshing drink at night. 
  4. By using a small piece of ginger in your daily diet in any form, you can be free from indigestion and other stomach troubles. Ginger is like a digestive tonic. 
  5. Make a concoction of caraway seeds by boiling a spoonful of seeds in a glass of water. Cool and drink. 
  6. Take a flake of cleaned garlic and roast it over a stove. Cool and eat it.
  7. Slice some raw raddish and mix a little pepper powder, lime juice and salt. Eat this.
  8. Take equal amounts of dry ginger, gingelly and jaggery. Grind or powder them together. Dissolve 6 gms of this powder in half glass of milk and drink it daily in the early morning for 6 days. 
For constipation: 
  1. Take the leaves of country fig (Athi:Ficus glomerata) mash or pound them along with a little rice water, squeeze out the juice and add 50 gms of sugar candy. Eat it daily for 12 days. You will sense a free movement of bowels. 
  2. Rub the root of castor plant. Mix this paste with about 25 gms of butter and gradully sip it.
